This game is definitely about Nobunaga and I quickly agreed with you. But unfortunately (and to my amazement) Wikipedia also has this page:

which casts doubt on it all. Particularly if this game is named after that actual chronicle (it probably is).
What I'd like to know is: Why is Nobunaga sometimes written as Shinchou in this context? Is it a misreading that stuck and became widespread? And if that is the case, should we preserve that as a part of culture?
Maybe there's an expert we can ask about this. But if Japanese people actually read this aloud as Shinchou Kouki, then this is already as it should be.

The reading is printed on the boxart and cartridge and is しんちょうこうき (Shinchou Koki).
Shinchou is the On'yomi reading of 信長 while Nobunaga is a Nanori reading. I also don't know why the On'yomi reading is primarily used in this case.
