I'm curious about the size, and subsequent hash, for Flashback USA on Genesis (last updated 2018-05-12). Using a Retrode on its default settings (fw v0.24), I'm able to produce a 12 Mbit file that matches the older SHA:
BCE40031F6ADAB48670C8A2D73E42F3A3DCBA97C
or, by forcing the size in the .cfg file, a 16 Mbit file that matches the newer SHA:
1A44EB9606088692B8559852E8F7B7C1A1472B6E
From the packaging for the game, it's advertised as a 12 Meg game. Wouldn't this make the older 12 Mbit file, now marked as Third Party, the correct dump?
Any background you can provide on this change would be helpful. Thanks!

There are not so much games that has ROM size after dumping not equal 2, most of them from the range: 128 Kb, 256 Kb, 512 Kb, 1 Mb, 2 Mb, 4 Mb.
So base ROM size can be 1,5 Mb, but PCB has 16 Mbit chip. So correct physical dump size is exactly 2 Mb (16 Mbit).
Anyway I'm using Flash Kit Programmer MD from krikzz. So it dumped this cart in the way as 16 Mbit ROM.

Is this the plan for any non-^2 ROM? It's going to suck to have to re-rip all of my non-^2 carts to keep a fully-recognized collection.
