Where does the name NBA Jam XXXX (four Xs) come from?

A while back, NBA Jam (USA) (Beta 1) was renamed to NBA Jam XXXX (USA) (Proto). The one known board for this proto has four ROMs labelled "JAM", "X", "X" and "X", i.e. three Xs. Where does No-Intro's fourth X come from?

Dunno why it was named that originally but until evidence comes out to justify it, there's no reason to retain the fourth X. Name has been changed
