===================== PARENT/CLONE TXT FILE ===================== It is a list of all games for the system arranged as follows: Parent1 Clone1 Clone2 · · · Parent2 Clone1 Clone2 · · · · · · The convention for choosing the parent title is arbitrary, of course. First condition is that it must contain English language. Then the following preference applies, latest version being prefered: (World) > (USA, Europe) > (other Europe country combos) > (Europe) > > (other USA country combos) > (USA) > (Japan) > (other countries/country combos) Latest versions include newer ROMs which are known to improve/extend a previous one, but they aren't necessarily explicit newer versions, like remixes, special editions, "hyper" versions, etc. Commercial (final) ROMs are prefered. This means that i.e. a Japan final will be selected even when there is an available english (Proto). Licensed ROMs are prefered. When several ROMs satisfy conditions, first released ROM is chosen as parent. ================ "BATCH JOB" FILE ================ It is a BAT file which will merge your ROMs into 7Z archives using "7za.exe", the commandline (standalone) build of 7-ZIP free archiving tool. You must edit the BAT file after downloading it to specify the output directory for the merged archives. You can also modify the parameters passed to 7za.exe to suit your tastes. Default parameters allow for creation of SOLID archives, using ULTRA compression and 64 MByte dictionary size. Better compression ratios would be achieved by using greater dictionary sizes, but this has higher system RAM requirements, so we leave this kind of tweaks to the end-user. Usage of this BAT file implies that you've previously renamed your ROMs using either the standard or Parent-Clone (XML) No-Intro DAT for the system. The BAT also assumes that you have previously uncompressed all the ROMs. Output 7Z archives will be named as follows: "Family" archives (with more than 1 ROM) are named using untagged title from parent game (see PARENT/CLONE TXT FILE description above). Standard archives (single ROM) are named using title with tags as usual. ROMs names inside all archives won't change. For a merging solution allowing to name the merged archives according to user's region preferences see the XMDB file.
